Rocky Mountain National Park, Day Two, Part 1

My second day in Rocky Mountain National Park started with a moderate hike at Lily Lake, which is located south of Estes Park off of Route 7, which is also a scenic byway. Rather than do the leisurely stroll around the lake, I decided to do the more rigorous Lily Ridge Trail.

Unfortunately, I kinda got lost - in my defense, the trail was not well marked, and so I continued straight when I should have taken a left turn down the trail back to the lake. But my instincts kicked in when it seemed like the trail had disappeared, and I knew something wasn't right, so, being smart, I turned back to figure out where I went wrong on the hike. I immediately encountered some nice people, and they were kind enough to point me in the right direction. The leader of the group also acknowledged that the trail was not well marked.

This is me looking over Lily Lake, before I took the wrong turn and nearly tumbled down the rocks! A nice fellow from Estes Park took the photo.
