Rocky Mountain National Park, Day One, Part 2

I re-entered Rocky Mountain National Park at 4 pm with my reservation for the Bear Lake corridor. I headed to Bear Lake, but with the road sign announcing that the Bear Lake parking lot was full (it wasn't), I parked in the park & ride lot and took a Park shuttle bus to the Bear Lake trailhead.

I first hiked the 3.6-mile roundtrip Nymph Lake-Dream Lake-Emerald Lake trail. It took about an hour and 25 minutes on the out-and-back trail. The weather took a bit of a turn for the worse as I arrived at Emerald Lake - it got noticeably cooler and windier and a bit stormy.

When I finished that hike, I topped it off with a less-than-mile hike on the nature trail around Bear Lake. All in all a wonderful day, with spectacular scenery courtesy of the Rockies.

Tomorrow I head over the western side of the Park to visit the Alpine Visitor Center, do a hike, and walk around Grand Lake, Colorado.
