Rocky Mountain National Park, Day One, Part 1
After a hot breakfast at the Quality Inn, I entered the Rocky Mountain National Park (founded in 1915) a little after 8 am, before reservations were required. This gave me full access to the Park, except the Bear Lake corridor area.
I drove the meandering and twisty Trail Ridge Road, stopping along the way at Sheep Lakes, Many Parks Curve, Forest Canyon, and Rock Cut, where there was a paved walkway through the barren tundra to some rock formations. The views were spectacular and breath taking. As for the altitude, I could definitely feel it, and decided to head back to Estes Park to regroup for my 4 pm sojourn into the Bear Lake corridor.
At Many Parks Curve, I ran into a fellow wearing a Flyers t-shirt and he offered to take a photo of me wearing my iconic sun hat posed in front of the mountains.
