Monte Vista, Colorado

Before arriving at my hotel in Alamosa, Colorado, I passed through a little town called Monte Vista. Its downtown is a National Historic District, and it boasts a classical United States Post Office building and a Carnegie library. Little towns like Monte Vista are some of the reasons I like to take a road trip - to discover places like Monte Vista (and Silverton and Ouray), charming and off the beaten path.
