I-70 through Glenwood Canyon
After the detour to Leadville, I headed back to I-70 for Colorado National Monument, located outside Grand Junction, Colorado. Here's a nice summary of I-70 in Colorado and Utah.
The highlight of the drive was the portion of I-70 through Glenwood Canyon. This portion of I-70 is delicately sculpted through the 12.5-mile Colorado River gorge and took 13 years and nearly $500 million to construct. The highway runs alongside the Colorado River. It was like driving a scenic highway but at 60 mph. The views during the drive were simply out of this world.
Just watch this YouTube video and you will see what I saw when I drove it!
